About Us

Senior Cat Sanctuary was founded in 2014 to help support the ADOPTION, CARE and SANCTUARY of senior cats, as they are the most overlooked pets at shelters. Our founder Tami is a longtime animal lover and advocate...shown at right at age 11 in her Grandmother's barn comforting some homeless kittens.

Our Mission

Our MISSION is to end the senseless euthanasia of senior cats at shelters and find them sanctuary in warm, loving homes to live out the remainder of golden years.

How WE Do This

We PROMOTE the adoption of senior cats by networking them locally and in social media
We ENLIGHTEN people to the joy and satisfaction that is possible by adopting a senior cat
We SPONSOR senior cats at shelters by paying adoption fees to entice adoption
We EDUCATE pet owners on the proper care and special needs of senior cats
We FACILIATE the match of potential adopters up with the right senior cats
We SERVE as a referral source for veterinary care, pet sitting, and other pet related needs

Where you located?

We are located in the state of Michigan on a gorgeous 10 acre former Christmas tree farm! We are sorry but we do not allow visitors as it is a private residence. All senior cats are fostered in private homes, we do not have a public facility (yet!).

Can I surrender my senior cat to you?

We deal with cats who are 10 years or older only. We currently do not have room to take in additional cats. You are welcome to post about the cat that needs adopting on our Facebook page and we will reshare it to our page. Please check with No-Kill shelters in your area to find placement. Also, please NEVER give your cat away for FREE...always charge an adoption fee.

What can I do to help senior cats?

VOLUNTEER at any local shelter to help groom, play with and socialize senior cats.
